The First and The Second Day in IEDUC

Finally after the long time of waiting for the announcement of the test of the 300 Phd’s programme from the West Java Government , my feeling of worry is revealed by the time the committee announced the result of the test in about one week ago. There were 36 people who passed the test. Lucky me i was the one of those 36 people. J

For the other friends who didn’t pass the test i hope that you will not give up. I am sure that in another time, you will pass the test. And for me and another  35 people who passed the test, i hope you were not arrogant  for your success because it is nothing. There are a lot of things that we must prepare if we really want to continue our study as doctoral students  abroad. The fact is, our ability, especially me, has not yet fulfilled the standars of overseas university enrollment. So it is still a long road for us to make our dreams come true.

Lucky for us, the committee realised our problem, so to enhance our ability to enter   the university  they provide us the facilities to improve our ability especially in English language  by giving us a preparation course for IELTS test. We take a course in IEDUC, the International Education Center which is Located in Cimanuk Street number 32 Bandung.

For your information, IELTS test is one of the requirements to enroll the universities abroad. It consists of four English skills of tests: Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing. The standard IELTS score for the enrollment is 6.5. However,  there are some universities which have higher standard for the IELTS score, for example the Hertie School of governance in German require the standard score for IElTS is 7.

Anyway, today is the second day for me studying at IEDUC. Because we took the preparation class for IELTS, so the class program focus on the way we pass the test and how to get the high score in IELTS test. Therfore, the contents of the couse are all about the IELTS test.

I write in this blog is to share about all the things i learn at IEDUC to you, so you can learn the same thing that I am doing right now that is in improving my English ability. Youdon’t have to think why i do it, why i am very kind for sharing you the information because it is not only for your benefits, i do it because i want you to improve your ability in using English language so you can make your dream of continuing your study  comes true, then you can join me in making our country prosperous. J

So let start, in the first and second day of my study in IEDUC i was teached about the tips and tricks to finish corectly and fastly. One thing we have to do to make it  that we have to practice a lot. Make the time table, spent alot of our time for preparing the test. Do alot of reading, do alot of speaking, listen of every conversation in english and ofcorse writing alot of article in english. Now you can see why i make two version of article in this blog, one version in indonesian and another version iam trying to translate it in english, it is because i want to practice alot of writing english.

The tips and the tricks for doing the EILTS test corectly and fastly which i have in first and second day are some of like this :

In reading :

“Question follow order” it mean in reading test the question often presented in sistematics way, first question has the answer in the first sentences or first paragrah, for answering the second question we can find it in the sentences or paragraph which provide the answer of the first question. The pattern is like that.

 “Read the instructions carefully” it mean that so many peoples who took the test made the wrong answer its because they didn’t read and understand the instruction of the following test. So it a must for you to read and understand the instruction first before you did the test.

“answer the questions not understand the passages” it mean that in IELTS test we don’t have much time to read all the passages in the book test so dont focus with the passages but focus to the questions. Read the question first found the keywords and than read the sentences or the paragraphs that contained the keywords.

“do skimming and scanning method” it means that you don’t have to read all of the passages  just find the keywords and answer the questions.
